ASL Technical is seeking a Materials Engineer for an exciting contract opportunity within a high-performance engineering environment. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will support material testing, failure analysis and investigations, helping to ensure product quality, reliability and performance. This role offers excellent exposure to advanced materials and engineering development programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support material investigations and root cause analysis of component failures.
  • Conduct material testing including tensile, impact, fatigue, corrosion and thermal evaluations.
  • Assist with sample preparation and microstructural analysis.
  • Provide material data and technical findings to engineering and design teams.
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain material information and confirm specification compliance.
  • Produce technical reports and recommendations to support product development.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and new testing methods.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support junior team members where required.

Requirements

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Degree, Master's or PhD in Materials Engineering, Materials Science or a related discipline.
  • Understanding of material failure mechanisms, fatigue and environmental degradation.
  • Familiarity with material testing and characterisation techniques.
  • Knowledge of engineering quality standards and best practices.
  • Understanding of metallic, polymer and other engineering materials.
  • Experience with CAD and engineering software would be beneficial.
