We are seeking an experienced Chassis Project Engineer to support the development of a low-volume, niche high-performance sportscar programme. This role focuses on steering and braking systems integration within a specialist automotive environment. It is a hands-on engineering and delivery role rather than a pure CAD design position, ideal for someone who enjoys taking responsibility for subsystem development, validation, and production readiness.

The programme utilises a number of carry-over components, so the emphasis will be on engineering integration, Design for Manufacture (DFM), validation, and ensuring systems perform as intended within a new vehicle application.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead chassis engineering activities related to steering systems and braking systems, with some involvement in suspension interfaces.
  • Manage and deliver integration of steering column and brake reservoir systems into the vehicle architecture.
  • Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles to ensure components and assemblies are production-ready for low-volume manufacturing.
  • Work closely with suppliers and internal teams to resolve technical issues and ensure timely delivery of parts and systems.
  • Support component and system validation activities, including test planning, issue investigation, and sign-off.
  • Assess and manage carry-over components to ensure compatibility with the new vehicle platform.
  • Coordinate engineering changes, documentation, and technical reviews across the chassis domain.
  • Support build phases including prototype, development, and pre-production vehicles.
Key Tasks
  • Steering column integration and validation.
  • Brake reservoir packaging, installation, and system checks.
  • Interface management between chassis subsystems and vehicle architecture.
  • Issue tracking and resolution during development and build phases.
  • DFM reviews with manufacturing and supplier teams.
  • Support vehicle builds and engineering sign-off activities.
Experience & Skills Required
  • Proven experience as a Chassis Engineer or Chassis Project Engineer within the automotive industry.
  • Strong knowledge of steering and braking systems; exposure to suspension systems is beneficial.
  • Experience working on low-volume or specialist vehicle programmes is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and engineering validation processes.
  • Experience managing or integrating carry-over components within new vehicle platforms.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with suppliers, manufacturing, and vehicle engineering teams.
  • Practical, delivery-focused engineering mindset.
Additional Information
  • Contract role assessed as outside IR35.
  • Rate approximately £40 per hour depending on experience.
  • Opportunity to work on an exciting high-performance sportscar programme within a specialist automotive environment.

If you are a chassis engineer who enjoys delivering real vehicles rather than purely designing parts, and you want to be involved in a specialist sportscar programme, we would like to hear from you.
