ASL Technical is looking for an experienced Automotive Design Engineer to join a leading automotive engineering environment in Bedfordshire, working on exciting vehicle accessory and special vehicle development programmes. If you're a Design Engineer or CAD Engineer who enjoys seeing your designs become real vehicle components, this is a great opportunity to work across automotive accessories, plastics, electrical systems, interior trim and mechanical components.

What You'll Be Doing

  • You'll play a key role in taking automotive accessories from initial design through to vehicle integration, working with a broad range of components and engineering disciplines.
  • Design and develop automotive accessories and vehicle components.
  • Produce and modify 3D CAD designs using Siemens NX / NX CAD.
  • Work across plastic components, interior trim, electrical accessories and mechanical parts.
  • Check vehicle fitment, packaging and component integration.
  • Support special vehicle and bespoke applications.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical development activities.
  • Work to agreed cost, quality and programme targets.
  • Resolve CAD, design, fitment and engineering issues with cross-functional teams.

What We're Looking For

  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • 3+ years' automotive OEM or relevant supplier experience.
  • Strong automotive CAD design experience – NX highly desirable.
  • Experience with automotive accessories, plastics, trim, electrical or mechanical components.
  • Understanding of vehicle packaging, fitment and component integration.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive approach and ability to work independently.
  • A genuine interest in cars, automotive design and vehicle technology.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Please NOTE - The rate is a PAYE rate, not an Umbrella rate and represents an equivalent rate of £58,000 per annum and is NOT an umbrella rate. The rate role also includes:
