About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Wellbeing Coordinator with experience in administrative systems and duties and student support to join our Animal Management team at our Wakefield campus. We are seeking an individual to champion student mental well-being by coordinating tailored in-college support and connecting students to specialist external services when needed. Lead the delivery of exceptional counselling and mental health support, ensuring every Askham Bryan College student receives the care they deserve. Empower College staff with expert advice and guidance on student mental health, while serving as a trusted Designated Safeguarding Officer at your campus. Make a meaningful impact on student lives in a supportive and collaborative environment!
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the ongoing development of innovative mental health support alongside leadership, ensuring accessible, inclusive care for all students.
- Champion mental health awareness across the College, connecting students with vital services and external specialist agencies.
- Provide compassionate, immediate mental health support during critical moments, including trauma and bereavement.
- Empower students with engaging self-help resources and personalized support for complex needs.
- Collaborate with staff to deliver impactful mental health training and foster a supportive College community.
- Maintain accurate safeguarding and service records, contributing to informed management decisions and continuous improvement.
- Represent the College’s commitment to wellbeing in internal and external forums.

Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire, Wakefield and Gateshead. We offer a wide-ranging curriculum to our Higher Education students, the land-based department includes Agriculture, Animal Management, Animal Bioscience, Wildlife and Environmental Conservation, Management of Animal Collections, and Equine.
