Animal Teaching Keeper (MAT Cover)
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is capable of working with others and is responsible, passionate and knowledgeable about animal management and welfare. The Teaching Animal Keeper will deliver high‑quality animal care alongside practical education and training at Askham Bryan College. The post holder will be responsible for the daily husbandry and welfare of the animal collection while actively teaching practical lessons and assessing students across animal management and related land‑based courses. The role supports the College’s mission to provide outstanding, hands‑on education within a professional working environment.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Kennel and Companion Manager and the Companion Teaching Lead Keeper, you will manage the companion animal section on a day‑to‑day basis. Key duties include general cleaning, feeding, maintenance and record keeping of a range of taxa (LVI, farm, zoo and companion animals). The role requires a generalist with experience across multiple animal groups.
Qualifications
Applicants should have at least a Level 3 qualification in an animal‑related subject; a degree in a related discipline would be advantageous.

Salary: SP18 – £25,462 to SP21 – £27,580 per annum
Contractual hours: 37 per week – Full‑time, Fixed‑term
