Location: York

Contract Type: Full Time - 37 hours, Fixed Term Contract for 9 weeks

Salary: SP29 - £17.98 per hour

About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Adventure Sport Instructor to join our Sport & Public Services team in York. This role offers the chance to work within a dedicated, enthusiastic and forward-thinking department, supporting the delivery of an ambitious Adventure Sport curriculum. You will play a key role in delivering practical outdoor learning, residential experiences and off-site activities, while helping to shape the future development of both our Further Education provision and our new Foundation Degree in Adventure Sport.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to support the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning and practical outdoor instruction across our Adventure Sport programmes. The successful candidate will work with learners on both Further Education and Higher Education courses, delivering a range of practical activities, residentials, expeditions and fieldwork experiences. Relevant industry experience, outdoor leadership qualifications and a strong commitment to learner development, safety and wellbeing are essential.

The successful candidate will support the planning, preparation and delivery of a wide range of adventure sport activities, which could be on and off campus, including residential weeks and outdoor expeditions throughout the academic year. They will contribute to the development of learners' technical, leadership and employability skills while gaining opportunities to further develop their own teaching, instructional and industry expertise. In addition, the post holder will have access to a comprehensive programme of internal and external Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities to support their ongoing professional growth.

With experience in Adventure Sport and a passion for what you do, you may not have experience in teaching but must be willing to work in a dynamic and challenging environment that is exciting, engaging and rewarding. Above all, you will be ready to learn and keen to positively influence the future of our students.
