Personal Assistant to a Health, Nutrition and Exercise Science University Student.

Are you a recent graduate looking for an exciting opportunity? AskJules are recruiting a morning PA on behalf of our client, a third-year university student based in Weymouth, Dorset. This role is to support our client with his morning routine as detailed below, to get up and ready for the day.

Start Date: ASAP

Shift Pattern: A Morning PA is required between the hours of 6am and 9am to work approximately 2 hours per morning, Monday to Friday.

Location: Weymouth, Dorset (DT3)

Pay & Benefits:

  • Rate of Pay: £17.05 p/h
  • 5.6 weeks holiday pro rata

About our client:

Our client will be attending his third year at the University of Solent from September, where he will be studying Health, Nutrition and Exercise Science. He has a diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and Crohn's disease and will require support with certain aspects of life such as health and general social support. This role is specifically to help out in our client's morning routine.

His interests include a variety of sports, including keeping up with football. In his free time, he enjoys playing numerous board games and card games. He is also a huge lover of baking, anything from pastries and cakes to cookies! On the other hand, he enjoys watching a mixture of programmes from medical dramas to the Star Wars franchise.

With a joyful and delightful personality, as well as a good sense of humour, our client is currently in his third year at university and finding new opportunities.

I have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and Crohn's disease which means I am in a wheelchair full time. I have a cat called Monkey who is very friendly and loves lots of attention. I like to watch lots of medical dramas like Grey's Anatomy, Chicago Med and Casualty. I love watching Clarkson's Farm, Masked Singer, The Voice, A League of Their Own and many sports documentaries like Welcome to Wrexham. I also enjoy going to the cinema and watching films of all different types. I love all things Star Wars including all the films and series. I support AFC Bournemouth and go to most home games and some away games. I love sports: football, Formula 1 (especially McLaren and Lando Norris), cricket, tennis, boxing and darts. I play powerchair football. I like to build Lego, especially Star Wars. I like to play card and board games like Uno, Exploding Kittens, Monopoly and Ticket to Ride.

I will need help with my hand exercises, getting into my stander, putting on my hand splints, and hydrotherapy so you will need to be good with being around water and also being able to help when I have physio sessions regarding my stander and the maintenance. At university, you will provide academic support and will come to all of my lectures and seminars and take notes. I will also need you to get my books and laptop out of my bag and set the laptop up for me and type for me during lectures. I will also need assistance with gym, practical sessions and boccia and travelling to competitions.

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work on your own initiative
  • To have a good sense of humour
  • A friendly and positive attitude

  • To be comfortable around pets (our client has a pet cat)
  • To be clean and tidy in both your appearance and ways
  • Non-smoker and non-vaper is required
