About our Client

Our client is a young adult who is a full-time wheelchair user and relies on the assistance of caregivers to maintain their independence and well-being. She has Athetoid Cerebral Palsy which affects her body and speech. Our client enjoys days out, eating out, visiting friends and spending time with family.

Your responsibilities will encompass every aspect of daily life to ensure their comfort and quality of life.

From the client:

I am a full-time wheelchair user. I sometimes require help some days more than others as my body tone can fluctuate as per my condition which can affect my fine motor skills. I therefore require a Personal Assistant who is patient and can listen to my needs when I communicate the level of help I require day to day. I have excellent hearing which means that some noises can cause me pain. I will actively communicate to you when this becomes a problem and what you can do to best support me. I use a word chart to communicate. I enjoy days out. I much prefer to be out and about than in the house all day. I have an excellent close circle of friends who I meet up with regularly for meals and trips out. I particularly enjoy going to the Bingo, Cinema, concerts and Bowling and of course a good shopping trip from time to time. I also have a keen interest in sport. I have previously played Boccia for Wales and Great Britain and like to still play on occasion. I am also a massive fan of Tennis, and I look forward to Wimbledon every year when it comes on the television. I have also previously attended University. I am very close with my family and like to spend lots of time with them both at home and on days out.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A full and clean UK driving license (Essential)
  • Confident driver as you will be expected to drive the client's vehicle
  • Excellent sense of humour and ability to not take life too seriously

  • Physical fitness, patience, and a caring nature
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Mature and responsible attitude
  • Fluent in English
  • Clean and tidy appearance

Application Process: To apply, please submit a cover letter describing your interests and explaining why you would be a suitable candidate for this unique and rewarding position.

Training and Development: Full training in the client's particular needs will be provided, making this an ideal opportunity for individuals without previous care experience. You will also have on-call support from our client coordinator team.
