About our Client: This young adult suffers from an unknown neuromuscular disorder which affects her mobility. She uses a powered wheelchair most days but sometimes will use crutches when feeling up to it. They rely on the assistance of dedicated caregivers to maintain their independence and well-being. Your responsibilities will encompass every aspect of daily life to ensure their comfort and quality of life.
As written by her: I really enjoy going out and about with my friends at the weekend or just meeting up somewhere on campus during the week. I would say that as a person, I am extremely sarcastic and have a very good sense of humour but, I can also be very blunt and take things too literally, which has made some amusing situations. I would like someone who is caring and compassionate as well as funny to cheer me up or just be an ear to listen when I need to rant. I will need a helping hand with all household chores and food prep as I absolutely love cooking and baking when I have the time between studying, but this is all explained in my care plan. As much as I love chemistry, I will sometimes need help to motivate me to do my assignments as well as a scribe for when I have to watch video lectures before my actual lecture, as well as help to organise myself, medication, etc. I have passed my driving test but I do not yet have a car that has been adapted for me to drive, so unfortunately our main transport until then will be buses, with the occasional train. I look forward to meeting you.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A full and clean UK driving license (Desirable)
- Excellent sense of humour and ability to not take life too seriously
- Physical fitness, patience, and a caring nature
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Mature and responsible attitude
- Fluent in English
- Clean and tidy appearance
Application Process: To apply, please submit a cover letter describing your interests and explaining why you would be a suitable candidate for this unique and rewarding position.
Training and Development: Full training in the client's particular needs will be provided, making this an ideal opportunity for individuals without previous care experience. You will also have on-call support from our client coordinator team.
