We have an amazing opportunity for you to become a Personal Assistant to a student during their university journey studying Mathematics at Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge.

Salary, Benefits & Hours:

Start Date- ASAP

Live In – £170 per day / £1,190 per week

Rota – Live in – 7 days on /7 days off

Location: Emmanuel College Cambridge, Cambridgeshire – (Term Time Only)

Free accommodation when on shift

About Our Client:

Our client has Cerebral Palsy and they are a full-time electric wheel chair user. This does not prevent them from enjoying hobbies such as watching sports, playing chess, completing puzzles and listening to Hip Hop. Overall, they are very friendly and thoughtful towards others.

You will provide our client with health, personal and social care. This is a live-in role which goes far beyond simply care work and includes all aspects of daily life that go along with being a university student. This includes going to the library, exploring the city of Cambridge and ensuring that the client is comfortable at all times. We are looking for PAs who are looking for a long-term client to add value to their educational journey.

“I use a wheelchair with Lithium battery powered wheels to get around. I need help getting out of my wheelchair. I will let you know if I can do things by myself. I need someone who understands that I need privacy sometimes just like any young person.

I need someone who is going to be able to anticipate what needs doing after working for me for a while and who can follow through with any arrangements that need to be put in place. I can get tired, especially after intense periods of concentration and may need to rest.”

Care experience is not required as full training in our client's particular requirements will be provided.

Duties will include:

  • Personal care and social support;
  • Work with the team to ensure information and issues arising during your shift are correctly reported and followed up;
  • Assist the student with administration tasks as required;
  • Assist in emergency evacuations in halls, if the situation arises, as instructed by the halls manager;
  • Encourage the student to engage in clubs/activities and societies;
  • Maintain good order, appearance and behaviour.
  • Assist the student with the organisation of events and extra-curricular activities.

The exact duties will be agreed upon with the successful candidate by our client to ensure they make the best use of the PA’s skills and talents.

About You:

For this role, we are looking for a person with a good sense of humour, who is physically fit, calm, patient and caring. Additionally, they will:

  • Possess great organisational skills and the ability to work on their own initiative
  • A mature and responsible attitude
  • Great communication skills
  • To be fluent in English.
  • To be clean and tidy in both your appearance and ways.

Please be aware these hours are only available during term time.
