Live-In Lifestyle Assistant / Support Worker to a recent uni graduate

Are you a recent graduate and not sure what to do next? Or are you someone with a passion for making a positive impact in others’ lives?

AskJules specialises in helping disabled university students recruit and employ Personal Assistants to provide their personal and social care.

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a young university graduate. He is currently residing in Cornwall and working as an actor.

He is looking for a like-minded person to join his care team and to assist him in daily living. Join his team of PAs who provide their personal care and independent living support. This is a great opportunity to help make a positive impact on a young adult’s life.

Job Title: Live-In Personal Assistant

Start date: June 2025

Location: Helston, Cornwall (TR13)

Weekly live-in rota: 7 days on and 7 days off.

This position is to support our client whilst at work and at his home in Cornwall.

Pay & Benefits

£180 per day/£1,260 per week worked

Free accommodation at the family home.

5.6 weeks’ holiday per year

About our Client

Our client recently finished university, where he studied Human Geography at the University of Exeter. He has a physical disability, Cerebral Palsy. He is a member of the NYT (National Youth Theatre) Our client is confident in his own ability and he really enjoyed living independently at university

– I studied Human Geography and I am also interested in politics and general news.

– I love acting and I will need you to help me learn my lines/auditions. I travel a lot with work so a good sense of direction/map reading skills are so helpful!

– I have a very broad range of interests.

– I love going to the cinema! I watch A LOT of films!

– I have Cerebral Palsy and it means that all four limbs are affected and I have very limited fine motor skills. Within a safe space I am able to walk around, but limit this to a few places.

– Be prepared to Google random questions in the middle of conversations – I am a very curious person who loves to learn about the world.

– I’m not a drinker, so you won’t have to retrieve me from the gutter, well not from alcohol use anyway.

About the job

You will provide our client's personal care and social support.

Previous PA's have told us that with the knowledge that they are having a positive, daily impact on someone's life, and the relaxed, inclusive working environment makes this a unique and exciting opportunity.

Care experience is not required as full training in our client's particular requirements will be provided.

You will be required to provide the highest quality of care and support. Our client knows what needs to be done and will direct you.

While care experience is useful, it is more important that you have the personal attributes that make for a good "match" with our client. The majority of hours worked will be spent as his companion.

About You…

You are unlikely to have experience in every aspect of our client's care therefore full training in his particular needs is provided.

You will need to be

  • A confident driver with a full, clean UK driving licence to be able to drive our client's VW Transporter (Essential)

  • Physically fit, calm, patient and caring

  • Good organisational skills and being able to work on your own initiative

  • Have a great sense of humour

  • Sensitivity to the needs to others

  • A mature and responsible attitude

  • Excellent hearing and communication skills

  • Computer literate

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
