Meet our client

Our client is a recent university graduate who is keen to maintain the independence and active lifestyle she enjoyed at university. She is a full-time wheelchair user and has spina bifida. She is easy-going, sociable and has a great sense of humour, and is looking for people around her who share her positive outlook and enjoy life. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends across London, going to music gigs, pub lunches and drinks with friends, attending church on Sundays, and watching comedies from the 2000s and period dramas. She is now looking forward to starting work experience and continuing to build her career and independence. This isn't simply a care role - it's an opportunity to support someone to get out, work, socialise and enjoy all the things that make life fulfilling.

About the role

As part of the care team, you will provide a combination of personal care, practical assistance and independent living support. Your support will enable our client to get on with her day-to-day life with confidence and independence. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting with personal care, including toileting and dressing
  • Supporting with medication, medical supplies and equipment
  • Driving our client's adapted manual Fiat Doblo
  • Accompanying her to work, appointments, social activities and family visits
  • Supporting her when out and about and helping her navigate new environments when required
  • Assisting with shopping, cooking and other daily living tasks
  • Providing support within the home
  • Carrying out light housekeeping and domestic duties
  • Accompanying her to medical appointments
  • Occasionally travelling with our client and staying overnight
  • Occasional overnight stays may involve sharing a room with our client. On some occasions, you may also stay at the family home, where a separate room will be provided.

No previous care experience? That's absolutely fine. You don't need to have experience in every aspect of this role. Full training will be provided so that you can develop the knowledge and confidence needed to support our client safely and effectively. What matters most is your attitude, reliability and willingness to learn.

About you

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Caring, patient, calm and compassionate
  • Physically fit and comfortable providing practical assistance
  • A confident driver who holds a full, clean UK driving licence (Essential)
  • Comfortable driving in London, cities and over longer distances
  • Reliable, responsible and well organised
  • Able to work independently and use your own initiative
  • A good communicator who is fluent in English
  • Clean, tidy and professional in your approach
  • Positive and friendly, with a good sense of humour
  • Respectful of our client's independence, choices and individuality

Most importantly, you should enjoy working with people and want to help someone make the most of everyday life.

Why join us?

This is a role where you can genuinely see the difference your support makes. You'll be helping a young graduate pursue her career ambitions, maintain her independence, spend time with the people she cares about and continue enjoying the social life she worked hard to build at university. For the right person, this can be much more than a job - it's a rewarding opportunity to become an important part of someone's life while helping them achieve their goals and aspirations.
