Live-in Personal Care Assistant for a 3rd year student studying Business and Management.

Are you a recent graduate and not sure what to do next? Or are you a carer or someone with a passion for making a positive impact in others' lives? We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a 21-year-old male university student, studying Business and Management at the University of Kent in Canterbury. They are looking for a smart and reliable individual to join their care team and assist them in daily living whilst studying.

Location: Canterbury, Kent (uni) / Surbiton, London (home)

Shift Pattern: Live-In - 7 days on / 7 days off - alternating day & waking night shifts (with split shifts and additional overtime hours as required)

Start Date: ASAP

Pay: £246.00 per day = £1,722.00 per week worked (plus any agreed overtime)

Holidays: 5.6 weeks (pro rata)

Bespoke training on the client's particular requirements will be provided. Accommodation provided at uni for the weeks you are working. Very occasionally when away from uni there might be only one room available, when each carer will have access to it for the hours they aren't working.

About our client:

  • Our client is in their 3rd year studying Business and Management at Kent University in Canterbury.
  • They have Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy and use an electric powered wheelchair for mobility.
  • Our client has specific needs and will be happy to assist in instructions with daily tasks.
  • They have a restricted diet due to allergies.
  • Some of their interests include football, Star Wars, and stand-up comedy.

They are looking for a person to assist them in their journey throughout university life. This may include encouraging the client to go to seminars, social events, clubs, sporting events etc.

As written by our client:

"Before uni I spent 5 years at a special residential school with a small peer group so I was really looking forward to being as independent as possible and meeting new people. I am really proud to have lived independently since September 2023 but my 1st year was socially quite challenging. I have struggled to attend lectures due to my fatigue and anxiety; or find accessible social activities. I am looking for someone who can proactively support me to develop this aspect of my university life."

"I'm a huge fan of the Star Wars franchise and also like Marvel and DC. I'm also a lover of sports - mainly football but also basketball, rugby, tennis etc."

"I am looking for someone who can be flexible. I have no idea what each day at university will be like but one of the things I value most from having my care team is the ability to be spontaneous. I may decide with relatively short notice to spend time at home in Surbiton, or elsewhere and I would need you to travel with me."

"You will be given plenty of training and I will always let you know if I want something done differently. It will take time for you to become familiar with everything so don't worry about making mistakes."
