We are working with a global engineering group delivering complex, safety critical projects across the oil and gas sector. They are seeking an experienced Project QA/QC Leader to take ownership of quality delivery across major engineering programmes into the Oil & Gas sector, based in Stoke on Trent. This role plays a central part in protecting project integrity, compliance and performance throughout the full project lifecycle. You will lead project quality activities end to end, working closely with engineering, project delivery, supply chain and external partners to ensure standards are met, risks are controlled and continuous improvement is embedded.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the project quality team, setting clear expectations and accountability.
- Own and deliver the project Quality Plan in line with company, client and regulatory standards.
- Develop, manage and control Inspection and Test Plans across equipment, vendors and subcontractors.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and contractual quality requirements accurately.
- Manage all quality documentation, ensuring traceability, accuracy and audit readiness.
- Lead quality inspections and audits including materials, welding, NDT and final inspection activities.
- Control non conformances, driving corrective and preventive actions through to closure.
- Work closely with suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams to resolve quality issues efficiently.
- Report quality performance, risks and progress to project and operational leadership.
- Identify and challenge quality risks early to protect delivery, cost and compliance.
Skills & Experience Required
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification.
- Strong background in oil and gas, energy or complex engineered environments.
- Proven leadership experience within QA or QC on industrial or heavy engineering projects in Oil & Gas.
- Working knowledge of ASME, ASTM, API, ISO, NACE and AWS standards.
- Degree or HND or HNC in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Practical experience with NDT methods including ultrasonic, radiographic and dye penetrant testing.
- Sound understanding of welding inspection and metallurgy.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across multidisciplinary teams.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in safety critical environments.
