Classic Gearbox & Differential Rebuild Specialist Up to £23.00 per hour Classic & Specialist Cars Full Time, Permanent If you can genuinely strip, inspect, rebuild and set up a gearbox or differential, we'd like to hear from you. We're working with a highly regarded specialist in the classic and historic car sector looking to add an experienced Gearbox & Differential Specialist to its team. This isn't a remove-and-replace role. You'll be working hands-on with gearboxes and differentials from some very special cars, stripping units down, identifying faults and wear, rebuilding them correctly and carrying out the precise setting-up work required to get them operating exactly as they should. What we're looking for We're interested in hearing from people with genuine experience of: * Manual gearbox stripping and rebuilding * Differential rebuilding and set-up * Bearings, gears, synchros and internal components * Setting preload and backlash * Crown wheel and pinion set-up * Fault diagnosis and inspection * Working accurately to fine tolerances Previous experience with classic, historic, performance or competition cars would obviously be a major advantage, but isn't essential. You may currently work for a gearbox or transmission specialist, in historic motorsport, with a classic car specialist or in another environment where gearboxes and differentials are still rebuilt rather than simply replaced. What matters is that you have the underlying skills. What's on offer? Up to £23 per hour, depending on experience, with the opportunity to work for an established specialist on some genuinely interesting machinery. If you're an experienced gearbox or differential builder and fancy applying your skills to the classic and specialist car world, we'd love to hear from you.
