Vehicle Technician / Motor Technician Guildford | Independent Specialist Garage | Up to £50k Basic DOE
Fed up with job adverts that say “competitive salary” but conveniently forget to mention what that actually means? Yep, us too. So, let's cut to the chase. An independent specialist garage in Guildford is getting busier and needs another pair of capable hands. We're open to Technicians at different levels, so whether you're a Level 2 Apprentice/Improver still learning the ropes or a seasoned Senior Tech who can identify a mysterious knocking noise from 50 yards away, we'd like to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Servicing, repairs, diagnostics and general mechanical work across a variety of vehicles.
- If you've got VAG experience, even better. If not, don't panic — it's not a deal breaker.
- You'll have access to training on diagnostic equipment, hybrid and EV systems, as well as IMI training and development.
You'll be working in a busy independent specialist garage where getting the job done properly matters, and where there's plenty of opportunity to keep developing your skills.
Who Are We Looking For?
We're looking for someone who knows which end of a screwdriver to use. Joking aside, you'll need at least 1 year's workshop experience and a genuine interest in developing your technical ability. We're happy to consider:
- Level 2 Apprentices / Improvers
- Vehicle Technicians
- Diagnostic Technicians
- Senior Technicians
You'll need a full UK driving licence, with a maximum of 6 points in line with company policy. VAG experience would be great, but we're more interested in what you can actually do than how many manufacturer logos you've collected over the years.
The Important Bits
- Up to £50,000 basic salary, depending on experience
- Overtime paid at time & a half
- 20 days' annual holiday
- Free onsite parking
- Own work allowed onsite
- Training on workshop and diagnostic equipment
- Hybrid & EV training
- IMI training and development
- Genuine opportunity to develop your career
And yes, the parking is actually onsite. No parking two streets away and pretending the 10-minute walk is part of your warm-up routine.
The Hours
Monday to Friday, 7:30am–5:30pm. Two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch. Straightforward workshop hours. No “you may occasionally be required...” followed by a paragraph explaining that you'll basically live here.
Why Apply?
Because if you're good at what you do, want to learn more, and fancy working somewhere independent rather than feeling like another number on a spreadsheet, this could be worth a conversation. We're hiring because the workload is there — not because someone has mysteriously “decided to pursue new opportunities”. If you're an Improver looking for somewhere to build your skills, or an experienced Tech looking for your next move, get in touch. Worst case, you have a chat. Best case, you find your next workshop. And who knows... you might even get to finish a cup of tea while it's still hot.
