Automotive Assistant Service Manager

Location: Kingston Area
A well-established, family-owned motor retail group is recruiting an experienced Assistant Aftersales Manager. The role offers a basic salary of £33,000 with a realistic OTE of around £38,000 and a company vehicle. This position suits a hands-on leader who wants progression and responsibility in a busy aftersales environment. Core hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00am–6:00pm, with a paid Saturday morning rota.
Responsibilities
- Support the Aftersales Manager in the day-to-day running of the aftersales operation, ensuring service delivery consistently meets customer expectations
- Lead, coach and motivate a mixed team of service advisors, technicians and apprentices, encouraging a customer-first culture through example and guidance
- Oversee scheduling, job allocation and performance monitoring to maintain workshop efficiency and quality standards
- Act as the escalation point for complex or high-priority customer issues, applying problem-solving skills to achieve timely resolutions and retain customer trust
- Work cross-functionally with Parts, Service and Workshop teams to deliver a seamless customer journey and continuous business improvement
- Assist with administrative duties, reporting and KPI tracking to support informed decision-making
- Maintain high standards of departmental housekeeping, safety and compliance; support ad-hoc projects as required
Requirements
- Previous supervisory or team-leading experience in automotive aftersales, retail or a customer-facing environment
- Proven history of delivering strong customer service and building rapport with customers
- Proactive, solution-focused approach with a ‘can-do’ attitude and ownership mentality
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy environment
- Excellent communication and people management skills; able to coach and influence colleagues positively
- Willingness to develop and keep up to date with product and technical information
- Full UK driving licence
Salary and Benefits
- £33,000 basic salary
- Realistic OTE circa £38,000

- Monday–Friday 08:00–18:00; Saturday rota 08:00–13:00 (paid separately)
