Ashwood Scotland Ltd is a respected principal contractor specialising in listed building, heritage, and high-quality construction projects across Central Scotland. With an in-house team of skilled stonemasons, traditional joiners and experienced construction managers, we deliver exceptional new build and refurbishment projects across public, private, and third-sector clients.
We’re looking for an experienced Site Manager to take ownership of on-site delivery across a range of construction and heritage projects in Central Scotland, valued up to £4.5 million. This role is ideal for a strong tradesperson who has progressed into site management and is confident leading teams, coordinating subcontractors, and working closely with clients, contract administrators, and design professionals. You’ll be trusted to deliver projects safely, on programme, on budget, and to Ashwood’s exacting quality standards.
Your Role
As Site Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring projects are executed efficiently and in full compliance with current Health & Safety legislation. You’ll act as the key on-site point of contact, maintaining clear communication with clients and stakeholders while proactively resolving issues to keep projects moving forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all on-site construction activities, reporting to Contracts Manager
- Engage with clients and Contract Administrators, attending meetings and reviewing contract documentation
- Plan, programme, and coordinate works to meet project deadlines
- Supervise direct labour and subcontractors for quality, safety, and performance
- Ensure full compliance with company procedures and statutory Health & Safety legislation
- Manage & maintain safe, suitable site conditions and deliver site inductions
- Produce daily site reports detailing progress, variations, and information requirements
- Procure plant and materials efficiently and in a timely manner
- Monitor progress, investigate non-conformances, and manage variations
- Deliver toolbox talks, site H&S audits, plant inspections, and safety briefings
- Build and maintain strong, professional client and supplier relationships
- Liaise with architects, engineers, subcontractors, local authorities, and utilities as required
Essential Skills and Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the construction industry
- Strong trade background with proven site management experience
- CSCS, SMSTS, and First Aid certification
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Solid understanding of construction site processes and Health & Safety regulations
- IT literate (Word, Excel, SharePoint)
- Full clean UK driving licence
- Willingness to work across sites throughout Central Scotland

- Scaffold Inspection Certificate
- Microsoft Project experience
