Overview
In this role you will advise on planning law within a global firm’s flexible resourcing platform. You will work with clients, project teams and authorities to apply Town and Country Planning Act 1990 matters and related regimes. You’ll handle planning applications, risk management and drafting planning agreements, with opportunities to engage on infrastructure projects and DCO work. The role combines expert regulatory advice with cross‑disciplinary collaboration in a dynamic, open culture.

Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice on planning law, focusing on Town and Country Planning Act 1990 regime
- Advise on planning applications, appeals, enforcement, permitted development, listed buildings and conservation areas, and planning strategy
- Draft, review and negotiate planning agreements and related documents (section 106, unilateral undertakings, conditions)
- Advise on the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and related environmental, land and property issues
- Liaise with local planning authorities, the Planning Inspectorate, statutory consultees and other stakeholders
- Support clients and project teams in managing planning risk and ensuring compliance with legislation, policy and guidance
- Support infrastructure and DCO work under the Planning Act 2008 when required
Key requirements
- UK-qualified planning lawyer with 5+ years' PQE
- Strong experience of Town and Country Planning Act 1990 matters, including planning applications, appeals and s106
- Knowledge of national/local planning policy and related environmental and property law
- Experience of DCOs or Planning Act 2008 or nationally significant infrastructure projects is advantageous but not essential
