The Opportunity: Ashurst has recently announced its intention to merge with US firm Perkins Coie. The merger will lead to a significant increase in the combined firm's tax compliance obligations so the Partnership Tax team is restructuring to create this new role. This is a permanent role to manage partnership, partner personal and service company tax compliance in the UK. Sitting within the Glasgow Financial Management Team, reporting to the Senior Partnership Tax Manager and supported by the UK Tax Advisor.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- First line review or preparation of approximately 185 UK resident partner tax returns, including collation and review of data received from the partners.
- Liaison with internal tax accountants regarding calculation of DTR claims for UK resident partners.
- Preparation of a Composite non-resident partner tax return.
- Co-ordination of tax payments for UK partner liabilities, including split of partnership and personal liabilities.
- Preparation of the main international partnership tax computation and review of associated UK partnership tax return.
This is a full-time, permanent role based in our Glasgow office with hybrid working.
About you: The successful candidate will have:
- Significant post-qualification experience in UK personal and partnership tax, ideally in a professional services environment.
- UK corporate tax compliance experience including preparation/review of computations and returns.
- Demonstrable experience managing large compliance portfolios.
- Proven track record working with cross-border data and double tax relief claims.
- Self-motivated personality with high standards for quality of work, controls and accuracy.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) with advanced Excel skills.
- Tax professional qualification eg CTA (desired).
- Experience of CCH Central tax filing system (desired).
