The Opportunity: The Senior Manager - BSC Finance Operations will lead key global finance operational services within Business Service Central (BSC), Ashurst Perkins Coie global business services function. The role is responsible for leading the global Accounts Payable and Cash & Banking teams through a number of direct leadership reports, with an overall team size of approximately 21 colleagues across the UK and Australia. Working closely with the Director - BSC Finance and wider Finance leadership team, the role will support the continued development of scalable, efficient and well-controlled finance operations aligned to the firm's global operating model. A key focus of the role will be driving operational excellence, process simplification, service alignment and continuous improvement across finance operations. The role requires a proactive and hands-on approach to operational leadership, change management and service improvement, supporting the ongoing evolution of finance operations services, systems and processes.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Cashiering
- Develop consistent global operational standards, controls and governance across Cash & Banking activities
- Ensure integrity, accuracy and timeliness of finance operational records and reconciliations
- Accounts Payable
- Managing production Payment Practices Report in the UK and Payment Times Reporting Scheme in Australia - including ongoing initiatives to improve results
- Review and follow up of unallocated credit card transactions
- Service Delivery & Operational Leadership
- Lead delivery of high-volume global finance operational services across multiple regions and jurisdictions
- Ensure services are delivered in line with agreed SLAs, KPIs and operational controls
- People
- Support the continued development and embedding of BSC Finance operating models and ways of working
- Provide leadership to the global BSC Finance team ensuring that all employees are engaged and aligned with the firm's objectives
- Project Management and Continuous Improvement
- Lead finance operational projects relating to systems enhancement, process improvement and service alignment initiatives
- Drive process improvements across cashiering, accounts payable, and finance operations
- Process & Service
- Support identification and transition of appropriate operational services into BSC Finance
- Set KPIs and define SLAs based on accurate baselines and sensible targets
This is a full-time, permanent role based in our Glasgow office with hybrid working.
About you: The successful candidate will have:
- Qualified accountant preferred; candidates with significant relevant operational leadership experience or demonstrably equivalent expertise will also be considered
- Experience leading, motivating & developing operational teams across multiple jurisdictions
- Experience operating within a complex global or matrix organisation
- Proven ability to lead operational change and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple levels of the organisation
- Experience of working in a law firm or similar highly regulated environment is essential as is the ability to interpret rules and regulations in a simple but effective manner
