Description
Ashurst's globally recognised Antitrust and Competition team is seeking an experienced Expertise Lawyer to join our market leading UK practice, based in our London office. This is a unique, non‑fee‑earning role at the forefront of legal innovation and excellence. You will partner with over 100 specialist lawyers and economists across our global offices, driving a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement, and enhancing client delivery by implementing next‑generation tools and technologies. The role spans both internal and client‑facing responsibilities: from developing training programmes and maintaining know‑how and information resources, to co‑ordinating thought leadership and delivering tailored client training programmes alongside our fee earners. The successful candidate will also play a strategic role in assessing the impact of new technology and AI on the practice, devising GenAI use cases, and leading change and adoption initiatives. You will be joining an expert, dynamic, friendly and well‑supported global community of expertise lawyers, within a firm where Knowledge and Expertise work goes to the heart of our 2027 strategy.
Key Qualifications
- Mid‑to‑senior‑qualified lawyer with at least four years’ experience in UK competition law, including merger control, FDI, and Chapter I/II.
- Ideally gained at a reputed international law firm where technical expertise and commercial understanding are valued above prior PSL experience.
- Champion quality, consistency, and legal excellence, with strong analytical skills and excellent written and spoken English.
- Passionate about the ongoing development of lawyers, inspiring enthusiasm for learning, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills, and confidence producing high‑quality publications under tight timelines.
- Open to adopting emerging AI tools, including GenAI, and new digital capabilities to enhance practice‑group output, improve efficiency, and strengthen knowledge assets.
- Proactive, client‑focused mindset and motivated to identify and support business development initiatives across teams and jurisdictions.
- Comfortable adapting to change, with a mindset that embraces innovation, process improvement, and evolving ways of working, whether independently or as part of a team.
