The Opportunity:

WIP Management is part of the firm's global Working Capital team based in Australia and the UK. The WIP Analyst role involves managing and monitoring Partner WIP review activity for a selection of practice groups. The successful candidate will monitor and support timely billing of WIP for the supply of legal services, with a view to reducing unbilled WIP levels, aged WIP and potential losses.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • A key focus of the role will be to identify key roadblocks through regular WIP reviews, ensuring root causes are resolved, completing billing forecasts and driving quality billing against target. The WIP Analyst will regularly liaise with relevant Partners, business managers and finance managers to discuss progress.
  • Establish and maintain relationships across the business with Partners, PE's, Finance/Business Managers and the wider BSC Working Capital teams.
  • Conduct regular, proactive WIP balance follow-ups on a monthly cycle, ensuring comments, RAG statuses, and values accurately reflect current activity.
  • Ask "tailored questions" based on matter information to ensure the right data is obtained.
  • Reduce aged WIP by identifying and resolving billing blockages; review smaller aged balances with a view to billing or writing off.
  • Encourage earlier submission of bills throughout the month. Promote interim billing on longer-running matters to maintain healthy WIP levels.

This is a full-time role on a Permanent basis, based in our Glasgow office with hybrid working.

About you:

  • Previous experience working in a similar Working Capital role, preferably in a legal or professional services environment.
  • Experience of working in a law firm advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of 3E practice management system or similar practice management system.
  • Ability to liaise at all levels and build strong relations with internal clients.
  • Ability to negotiate suitable outcomes and possess practical problem-solving skills.
