The Opportunity

Our Bids & Pursuits team are enthusiastic and passionate business development professionals, unified by a common goal: to ensure we deliver excellence in winning work and generating profitable business for the firm. You will be an integral part of the team supporting the development of best practice bids in collaboration with the wider Clients, Markets and Growth (CMG) team, partners, clients and other stakeholders. This is an industry-aligned pursuit role dedicated to our Energy, Infrastructure and Real Estate practices:

  • Energy: the full spectrum of the energy industry, including all major forms of energy production and generation, transport, storage and consumption, advising investors, operators, offtakers and financiers.
  • Infrastructure: market-leading infrastructure expertise, acting for sponsors, governments, equity investors and debt financiers across transport, utilities, and social infrastructure, as well as secondary market transactions.
  • Real Estate: the full spectrum of real estate activity, including high-profile acquisitions and divestments, asset management, investment, joint ventures, financing, construction, planning and major urban regeneration projects across all asset classes.

This role supports pursuits across the whole value chain - from mature practice areas such as oil and gas, rail, roads, conventional power and real estate through to priority growth sectors including water, nuclear, offshore wind, CCUS, hydrogen, and data centres. Working directly with partners, the wider CMG team and other key stakeholders across practice, industry and business services you will lead the end to end development of high quality, distinctive and compelling client-centred bids and pursuits in EMEA.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Work with Fee-earners, wider CMG team members, and stakeholders to define the bid strategy with a clear value proposition and win themes for all bids.
  • Manage end to end process for bids and pursuits from qualification to submissions, presentations and aftercare, including content management.
  • Champion Ashurst's global bid & pursuit methodology, drive best practice and continuous improvement across pursuits and bids.
  • Work closely with CMG colleagues to coach, advise and influence partners and other key stakeholders on opportunity qualification and pursuit strategy.
  • Lead the development of win strategies, considering relationship, commerciality, competitive positioning and pursuit intelligence with a particular focus on the dynamics of energy, infrastructure and real estate markets across EMEA.

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • 5+ years' experience in a pursuit and bid role in legal, professional services or other relevant environments with a proven track record of winning strategic bids.
  • Prior experience in, or interest in and knowledge of, the energy, infrastructure and real estate sectors.
  • Strong technical capability in leading pursuits, including stakeholder management and project management skills, and a proven ability to successfully manage work-winning processes.
  • Experience supporting bid teams throughout the bid lifecycle, including critical meetings, presentations and commercial negotiations.
  • Excellent organisational skills; ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously, work to timescales and deadlines set by clients.
