We are looking to recruit a Residential Development Solicitor with at least three years’ post-qualification experience to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer who wants exposure to high-quality work, client contact and genuine long-term progression.
You will work closely with senior lawyers on a varied caseload while developing your technical skills and client exposure. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting on a range of residential development matters for landowners, promoters, and developers
- Supporting senior fee earners on:
- Strategic land option agreements
- Promotion agreements
- Conditional and unconditional sale agreements
- Overages and clawback provisions
- Assisting with site acquisitions and disposals, including due diligence and title investigations
- Preparing first drafts of legal documentation and reports
- Managing post-completion formalities and Land Registry applications
- Liaising with clients, agents, lenders, and other solicitors under supervision
- Supporting development finance transactions in conjunction with the finance team
- Maintaining accurate file records and assisting with matter management
- Developing technical knowledge in residential development and strategic land work
- Contributing to team initiatives and business development activities as appropriate
Knowledge, skills and experience required:
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
- Minimum of 3 years’ PQE in commercial property
- Strong technical grounding in commercial property transactions
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
- Commercial awareness and a practical, solutions-focused mindset
- Strong communication and client-handling skills
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and work autonomously
Desirable (but not required):
- Previous experience in residential development or strategic land
- Experience working with landowners, promoters, or developers
- Interest in business development and client relationship management
