We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our Trust & Tax team, with a focus on estate and trust account management. This position plays a key role in supporting the client accounting needs of our portfolio and ensuring we consistently deliver a high standard of service. You will have hands-on involvement in all aspects of client accounting, contributing directly to the smooth and accurate financial management of our clients' affairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate estate accounts from initial instruction through to final distribution
- Manage trust accounting records including settlements, variations and ongoing trust administration
- Record all estate and trust transactions including assets, liabilities, income and expenses
- Prepare interim and final estate accounts for beneficiaries and executors
- Produce annual trust accounts and income distribution statements for trustees and beneficiaries
- Liaise with executors, trustees, beneficiaries and HMRC regarding estate and trust matters
- Ensure compliance with probate accounting standards, trust law and regulatory requirements
- Assist with inheritance tax calculations, trust tax returns and ongoing tax compliance
- Maintain organised records and documentation for all estate and trust files
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven bookkeeping experience, preferably in legal, estate or trust administration
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles
- Knowledge of UK Inheritance, Income and Capital Gains Tax
- Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software
- Understanding of probate, trust administration and trust taxation (desirable)
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong team playing skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
