This is an exciting opportunity for a tax professional who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for leadership and client relationships. Working as part of our wider Lifetime Planning team, you will lead on a varied portfolio of personal tax, estate and trust matters, while helping to shape and grow our specialist tax services. You will have the chance to influence strategy, mentor colleagues, strengthen internal relationships across the firm, and contribute to business development initiatives.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide strategic, proactive tax and trust advice to a broad range of private clients, executors and trustees.
  • Lead, develop and supervise a specialist team, ensuring the highest standards of technical and client service delivery.
  • Deliver technical training and mentorship to colleagues within Tax & Trusts and the wider Lifetime Planning department.
  • Drive the growth and promotion of our Trust and Tax services across the firm and externally.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across our French Legal, Agriculture & Estates, Business, Residential and Family teams.
  • Support our French Property Team by advising UK individuals with French property and asset interests.
  • Advise on Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax and Stamp Duty Land Tax, including tax planning and mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and review personal tax returns, including 60-day Capital Gains Tax returns for residential property disposals.
  • Calculate tax liabilities and provide clear guidance on self-assessment obligations.
  • Prepare estate accounts and manage income tax and capital gains tax matters arising during estate administration.
  • Finalise the tax affairs of deceased individuals.
  • Prepare and review trust accounts, trust tax returns and tax deduction certificates.
  • Prepare Inheritance Tax documentation for trusts and related matters.

About You

  • We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded tax professional who enjoys building relationships, leading teams and delivering exceptional client service.
  • You will have significant experience in personal tax, trust and estate accounting.
  • Strong leadership, management and supervisory experience.
  • An AAT, ATT, ACA, ACCA or TEP qualification (essential).
  • Experience handling complex estate and trust accounting matters.
  • Knowledge of non-resident and non-domicile taxation.
  • A thorough understanding of UK taxation relating to individuals, estates and trusts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
  • A collaborative approach and a desire to contribute to the continued success of the team.
  • The highest levels of professionalism, integrity and discretion when handling sensitive client matters.

Location & Flexibility

This role can be based from any of our offices, with occasional travel to other locations as required. There will be a regular requirement to work from our Bury St Edmunds office one day per week.
