Ashton Recruitment is currently recruiting two experienced Grill Chefs on behalf of a busy and well-established hospitality client in Portstewart.
This role would suit chefs who have strong experience working on a commercial restaurant grill and are confident preparing and cooking steaks, burgers, chicken, seafood and other grilled dishes to a consistently high standard.
Applicants must have genuine restaurant grill experience. Experience gained solely within a takeaway or chip-shop environment would not be suitable for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Working confidently on a busy commercial grill
- Preparing and cooking meat, poultry, seafood and other menu items
- Cooking steaks and grilled dishes to customers' requirements
- Managing several orders at once during busy service periods
- Ensuring food is cooked, presented and served to a consistently high standard
- Preparing ingredients and completing daily mise en place
- Monitoring stock levels and minimising food waste
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workstation
- Following all food hygiene, allergen and health and safety procedures
- Supporting the wider kitchen team when required
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience working as a Grill Chef within a restaurant, hotel, bar or similar commercial kitchen
- Strong knowledge of cooking temperatures and meat preparation
- Ability to work efficiently during high-volume service
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Strong attention to detail and presentation
- Knowledge of food hygiene and allergen procedures
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and busy service periods
The successful candidates will be experienced, reliable and comfortable taking responsibility for a busy grill section. You should be able to work at pace without compromising on quality and remain calm and organised during busy services.
