Ashton Recruitment are hiring a Forklift Driver for our client based in Belfast Harbour, our client offers a great working environment along with various training opportunities to upskill. This position will be full time with a view of becoming permanent after 12 weeks probationary period.
Position: Forklift Driver
Location: Belfast Harbour
Duration: Temporary to Permanent
Rate of Pay: £15.90 per hour (Potential rate increase once full training is completed)
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm
Duties will include (but not limited to):
- Operating a range of forklift trucks – including various sizes and configurations, with full training provided where necessary to ensure safe and efficient handling of materials.
- Unloading steel from ships – following strict safety protocols, using the appropriate equipment and techniques to manage heavy loads.
- Loading and off‑loading steel trailers – preparing customer orders for transportation, ensuring all loads are secure and accurately documented.
- General stevedoring duties – assisting with the safe movement, stacking, and storage of steel products within the yard and warehouse environment.
- Material handling & stock control – moving goods to designated storage locations, conducting visual checks for quality and reporting any damage or irregularities.
- Equipment checks & maintenance – carrying out daily pre‑use inspections of forklifts and reporting any mechanical issues immediately to the supervisor.
- Adhering to all Health & Safety procedures – wearing the required PPE, following site safety rules, and actively contributing to a safe working environment.
- Assisting team members – working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure efficient operations and meeting tight deadlines.
- Flexibility to meet operational demands – including occasional overtime and assisting in other operational areas when required.
- Supporting training and upskilling – being open to learning how to operate other machinery such as a Combi Lift or other port/yard equipment.
Essential Criteria:
- Valid Combi Lift license
- 2 Years previous experience operating a combi lift
