Ashton Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Logistics Planner to join our client, a well-established organisation based in the Duncrue area of Belfast.
Location: Belfast
Duration: Temporary - Permanent
Pay Rate: £31,000 - £38,000 per annum
Hours of work: Monday - Thursday, 09:00 - 17:00 and Friday 08:00 - 16:00
Our client is a science-driven leader in the animal nutrition and farm management sector, dedicated to supporting food producers with innovative and sustainable solutions that enhance animal health, productivity and overall agricultural performance. With a strong heritage in translating research into practical feed strategies, additives, premixes, digital tools and tailored services, they help customers optimise livestock production across multiple species while responding to the evolving demands of the food-to-plate value chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan daily and weekly outbound logistics for all customer orders, ensuring optimal allocation of hauliers and vehicle types.
- Coordinate with multiple hauliers to arrange transport for finished goods deliveries.
- Ensure all customer orders are dispatched in a timely manner and meet agreed service levels.
- Proactively identify and resolve potential delays or bottlenecks in the delivery schedule.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with hauliers to support effective delivery coordination.
- Act as the primary point of contact for transport providers, ensuring clear communication and timely issue resolution.
- Monitor haulier performance and escalate service failures as required.
- Schedule inbound delivery of raw materials in line with production requirements.
- Book inbound deliveries via relevant transport portals, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
- Liaise with suppliers, hauliers, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth scheduling and unloading.
- Ensure system accuracy by updating delivery schedules, transport bookings, and inbound/outbound records.
- Collaborate with Customer Service, Warehouse, and Planning teams to ensure seamless end-to-end coordination.
- Provide daily communication of dispatch plans and any changes to key stakeholders.
Essential Experience:
- Previous experience in logistics planning, transport coordination, or a similar role (preferred).
- Understanding of transport operations, delivery routing, and supply chain processes.
- Strong customer service mindset with experience managing external partners.
- GCSEs or equivalent required; further education in logistics or supply chain is advantageous.
- Strong planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Experience working with ERP or planning systems (e.g. M3) is desirable.
