Start date: 1 September 2026 NJC Pay Scale, Band 4 Point 12-17, £28,598 - £31,022 per annum pro rata.

The Dean Trust is seeking to appoint a talented and hard‑working Teaching Assistant 2 SEN to join our dedicated team at Ashton on Mersey School.

The core purpose of the role will be to work under the instruction and guidance of teaching/senior staff to undertake work/care/support programmes, to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff to undertake work/care/support programmes.
  • Enable access to learning for pupils and assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.
  • Carry work in the classroom or outside the main teaching area.
  • Supervise groups of pupils undertaking activities in non‑teaching situations when required.
  • We look for a candidate who demonstrates the following qualities, knowledge and skills:
  • Strong commitment to supporting all pupils, particularly those with SEND.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and support individual needs.
  • Promotes inclusion, independence, and self‑esteem.

  • Good communication skills with staff, pupils, and parents.
  • Able to use ICT & learning resources effectively.
  • Organised and capable of handling administrative tasks.
  • Willing to contribute to wider school life, including trips and activities.
  • Committed to ongoing training and professional development.
