About The Role
Your role will encompass all aspects of fire safety engineering. This will range from undertaking research on new products and systems, working with design teams, preparing fire strategies, undertaking site inspections and computational modelling, through to supporting the implementation of effective fire safety management and protection measures in existing buildings. Once you have developed a sound knowledge of the industry, we offer opportunities to specialise in different areas of fire engineering to suit your interests.
As a part of our business, you will have the opportunity to liaise with a wider team of highly skilled fire consultants with specialisms that incorporate a diverse range of fields. You will be supported in learning fire safety engineering techniques and practices by our highly competent fire engineering team with Chartered Fire Engineers. We will provide a supportive environment for you to develop both personally and professionally, and we want you to be proactive in this by being accountable for achieving your personal and our collective goals.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with colleagues across all offices and support fire engineers at all levels on projects.
- Develop fire strategy designs utilising a mixture of code compliance and performance-based approaches within a wide range of sectors such as residential, commercial, heritage, sports grounds, healthcare, etc.
- Produce technical reports outlining assumptions and bases of design, methodologies, and recommendations.
- Develop soft skills such as project management and liaising with clients and other specialists.
- Attend site visits (if required), whilst being accompanied and supported by an experienced engineer.
- Complete the graduate training scheme with support from your mentor.
- Continually advance your knowledge and skills in the application of fire engineering principles and relevant legislation through continual professional development, with an aim to achieve associate member status with the Institution of Fire Engineers.
- Attend and make a positive contribution to meetings, both internally and externally, and help us to continually improve Ashton Fire and the wider fire safety industry.
- In time, support Ashton Fire in undertaking research projects and publishing technical articles, including conference and journal papers.
