Overview
Your role will encompass all aspects of fire safety engineering. This will range from undertaking research on new products and systems, working with design teams, preparing fire strategies, undertaking site inspections and computational modelling, through to supporting the implementation of effective fire safety management and protection measures in existing buildings. Once you have developed a sound knowledge of the industry, we offer opportunities to specialise in different areas of fire engineering to suit your interests.
As a part of our company, you will have the opportunity to liaise with a wider team of highly skilled fire consultants with specialisms that incorporate a diverse range of fields. You will be supported in learning fire safety engineering techniques and practices by our highly competent fire engineering team, which includes Chartered Engineers. We will provide a supportive environment for you to develop both personally and professionally, and we want you to be proactive in this by being accountable for achieving your personal and our collective goals.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with colleagues across all offices and support fire engineers at all levels on projects.
- Manage own projects and assume responsibility for setting and meeting deadlines and keeping track of own financial performance and budgets.
- Develop fire strategy designs utilising a mixture of code compliance and performance-based approaches within a wide range of sectors such as residential, commercial, heritage, sports grounds, healthcare etc.
- Produce technical reports outlining assumptions and bases of design, methodologies, and recommendations.
- Attend site visits and conduct inspections (if required).
- Keep up to date with new technologies and innovations in fire engineering and brief the team where relevant.
- Continually advance knowledge and skills in application of fire engineering principles and relevant legislation through continual professional development, with an aim to achieve chartered engineer status (CEng) with a recognised professional body.
- Attend and make a positive contribution to meetings, both internally and externally, and help us to continually improve Ashton Fire and the wider fire safety industry.
- Contribute to the graduate training scheme and support graduate and junior engineers with their career progression.
- In time, support Ashton Fire in undertaking research projects and publishing technical articles, including conference and journal papers.
