Hours: Alternate Weekend Role (Part time – on a rota basis) from 10:00-18:00
The Opportunity
At Ashridge, we pride ourselves on providing a well-maintained, welcoming, and professional environment for our guests, colleagues, and wider community. We are seeking a reliable and practical Handyperson to support the smooth day-to-day operation of our historic site. This role plays a key part in ensuring our facilities are safe, functional, and presented to a high standard, responding promptly to maintenance needs and carrying out planned preventative tasks. Working closely with the wider onsite team, the successful candidate will bring a hands-on, proactive approach, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering excellent service in everything they do.
Responsibilities Include
- Carrying out general maintenance tasks, including but not limited to:
- Light changes
- Heating control resets
- Door sticking
- Resetting trip switches
- Minor repairs to fixtures and fittings
- Replacing batteries
- Basic plumbing tasks
- Completing basic PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) checklists and undertaking any necessary remedial actions
- Flushing tasks as required
- Paintwork touch-ups and basic painting jobs
- Working through maintenance task lists during quieter periods
- Responding to guest-related maintenance issues in a timely and professional manner
- Supporting the wider onsite team as required
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience with DIY and general maintenance tasks
- Available to work weekends on a regular, rotational basis
- A clear and confident communicator
- Reliable, committed, and able to work independently
- Practical, hands-on, and proactive in approach
