We\βre looking for an experienced and confident Payroll Manager to join a well-established manufacturing business in Derby. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in running a smooth and accurate payroll, and wants to be a trusted expert within the business.
You\βll be responsible for overseeing payroll for around 1,000 employees, supported by a knowledgeable and capable team. With a hybrid working setup and a welcoming culture, this is the ideal role for someone looking to take full ownership of payroll.
What You\βll Be Doing
Running the end-to-end payroll process (weekly and monthly) for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Supporting, guiding, and working closely with a dedicated payroll team.
Acting as the go-to person for payroll queries and advice across the business.
Working with SAP to maintain accurate payroll records and reports.
Liaising with HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth payroll operations.
Leading on small projects to improve processes and implement updates when needed.
Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and making sure everything stays compliant.
What We\βre Looking For
Proven experience in a payroll management role
Comfortable working independently and managing a regular payroll cycle.
Good working knowledge of SAP payroll systems (essential).
Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, pensions, and statutory processes.
A friendly, approachable attitude and the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues at all levels.
Organised, detail-focused, and happy taking ownership.
Nice to Have
CIPP qualification or similar
Experience working with unionised or multi-site teams
