Commercial Finance Manager
Based in Banbury, Oxfordshire
up to Β£55,000 per annum (depending on experience)
We are seeking a highly capable and detail-oriented Commercial Finance Manager to oversee core operational finance functions. This is a newly created, permanent position based in Banbury , reporting directly to the Group Finance Director .
Purpose of the Role
This role plays a vital part in ensuring strong cash flow management and accurate monthly forecasting, while also providing leadership to the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) teams. It also requires bringing commercial insight into overall business performance and owning key financial processes such as FX management, cash flow forecasting, and duty deferment administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support the AP and AR functions and associated employees
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, receipts, and customer/supplier queries
- Drive improvements in AP/AR processes, systems, and controls
Compliance & Operational Finance
- Manage the Duty Deferment Account, ensuring accurate tracking and HMRC payments
- Oversee compliance and documentation related to bonded warehouse operations
- Approve and ensure timely bank reconciliations
Cash Flow & FX Management
- Lead short-term cash flow forecasting to ensure liquidity
- Develop long-term cash flow models to support strategic planning
- Own FX exposure and implement effective hedging or mitigation strategies
Forecasting & Budgeting
- Lead preparation of P&L forecasts, working closely with stakeholders
- Support the annual budgeting process with financial modelling and analysis
Rebates Management
- Oversee the rebates function, including reconciliations and sign-off of agreements in line with policy
Other Duties
- Support with various ad hoc tasks and finance projects as required
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Part / Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent experience
- Strong track record in a similar finance management role
- Expertise in forecasting, cash flow, AP/AR, and operational finance
- Experience managing teams and implementing process improvements
- Familiarity with customs processes, bonded warehouse regulations, and duty deferment (desirable)
- Excellent leadership and people management skills
- Strong attention to detail with a problem-solving mindset
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
