Ashley Services are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and qualified Mechanical Engineer with a strong plumbing background to join their growing aftercare team. This role will focus on maintaining and supporting a large portfolio of residential developments across the North, with the majority of work based in and around Leeds.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone who can confidently diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical systems, with additional knowledge of building services and basic electrical competencies highly desirable.
Working Hours & Pay
- Minimum of 40 hours per week guaranteed pay
- If fewer than 40 hours are worked, you will still be paid for the full 40 hours
- Any additional hours worked beyond 40 are fully paid on top
- Travel time is paid
- All work is carried out within standard daytime hours – no out-of-hours work
Key Responsibilities
- Attend sites in a company vehicle across Leeds and surrounding regions
- Access pre-arranged residential apartments or communal areas
- Identify and manage any health & safety risks on site
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs or replacements across:
- Plumbing, drainage, heating, and ventilation systems
- Predominantly electric heating and hot water systems
- Mechanical ventilation systems
- Basic electrical small power and lighting (where applicable)
About the Work
You will be supporting a portfolio of nearly 3,000 apartments under warranty across the North, with Leeds being the busiest area. Occasional travel to Lancashire or Derbyshire may be required.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer with a strong plumbing bias (essential)
- Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering / Plumbing
- Basic electrical knowledge (essential)
- Working knowledge of building services
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
