Ashgate School is looking to appoint enthusiastic and motivated Lunchtime Support Assistants to meet and support the needs of SEND pupils at lunchtime. Our Lunchtime Support Assistants help to ensure that children are safe and happy during the lunchtime period and make the most of the opportunities for learning at this important point in the day.
Responsibilities:
- Supervising the children during the mid‑day break, including when they are waiting to go for lunch and while eating lunch.
- Helping children who need assistance with their meals, ensuring that they are able to enjoy their meals without undue difficulty or delay.
- Supporting and assisting the children in lunchtime leisure and play activities.
- Assisting with the physical care of children, e.g. toileting, changing and washing (for those children who need this level of help).
- Following agreed procedures for dealing with and reporting incidents during the mid‑day break.
Candidate Requirements:
- Have a positive outlook, be highly motivated and flexible.
- Be self‑motivated, show initiative, able to work on your own and contribute as part of a team.
- Have high expectations of yourself, colleagues, children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Be able to support the learning of children and young people with SEND.
- Be committed to the safeguarding of children and young people and be able to contribute to ensuring a safe environment for all.
