As a Registered Nurse within our Inpatient Unit, you will deliver high‑quality, compassionate palliative and end‑of‑life nursing care to patients and those important to them. You will assess and respond to complex clinical needs, ensuring care is individualised and focused on comfort, dignity and quality of life. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to shared clinical decision‑making and continuity of care across the patient journey. You will support patients and families through emotionally challenging times, offering skilled clinical care alongside sensitive communication and emotional support. You will also help run the inpatient unit, including shift leadership responsibilities when required and support to junior colleagues. Your role sustains inpatient capacity during a defined funding period and supports the delivery of safe, person‑centred care.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RGN) with valid NMC registration
  • Experience delivering compassionate, high‑quality care within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work confidently in emotionally complex situations
  • Commitment to person‑centred, dignified care
  • Willingness to work a fair rotational mix of day and night shifts as part of a 24‑hour inpatient service

Desirable

  • Experience in palliative care, oncology or a hospice setting
  • Post‑registration qualification in palliative care or mentorship
  • Familiarity with electronic patient record systems (e.g. SystmOne)

Each year, we support over 2,640 people, helping them to manage symptoms, stay informed about their care, and maintain the best possible quality of life from diagnosis onwards. We also provide vital support to those important to them, including practical and emotional support, and bereavement care when someone has died.
