We are currently seeking a Senior Risk and Compliance Assistant to join the Risk and Compliance department based in our Exeter office. This is a full time and permanent position.

The Risk and Compliance department is central to ensuring that the Firm is compliant with the legal sectors regulatory expectation for the protection of our clients and employees. As a Senior Risk and Compliance Assistant, you will provide an efficient and effective service by assisting and supporting the Risk and Compliance team and the wider firm.

Working efficiently and accurately to deadlines, duties include the maintenance of the Firm\’s client case management systems, ensuring client data is up to date and accurate. You will be a key part of the firm’s client onboarding process, to include verification of clients identity; being careful to recognise and note anomalies or issues.

As a senior member, you will be an escalation point for duties and mentorship of other members of the team. You will have an understanding of the regulatory requirements, notably Anti-Money Laundering, and inform the team, and the firm, of any changes required to internal processes. You will be analysing compliance trends within the firms client database, and collate reports where requested.

Communication and being able to take in and deliver clear messages is key, as well as being professional and confidential towards client matters, the wider firm and supporting your colleagues when needed.

Who you are

You have already gained experience of handling confidential information within an office environment or professional services setting, although we will provide full training to the right candidate. Bright and motivated, you will have achieved a good standard of education and be a confident user of MS Office applications.

With excellent all-round communication skills, you\’ll already possess the ability to remain calm under pressure, with a willingness to learn in a busy and fast moving environment. You will have experience in supporting and mentoring others within a team. Possessing a positive, professional and proactive attitude to your work is essential in this role, as we will expect you to be responsive to the needs of all employees of the Firm, including senior employees and Partners.

Your polite and helpful telephone manner and broader interpersonal skills will enable you to manage and meet your clients\’ demands whilst ensuring that you utilise resources effectively in order to manage your workload. You will be meticulous in your work with strong attention to detail, and have a good awareness of the importance of deadlines and timescales which impact on your work.
