This is a fixed‐term position covering April and May 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Biology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with an opportunity to teach A Level Biology.
  • Lead lessons in dedicated laboratories and use interactive whiteboards and students' Microsoft laptops.
  • Respond to the needs of individual students through co‐curricular activities, one‐to‐one drop‐in sessions or academic booster lessons.
  • Build on the faculty's engaging approach to teaching and learning and articulate academic rigour.
  • Provide guidance to students of all abilities, including those whose first language is not English.
  • Report to the Head of Department and collaborate with support staff.
  • Contribute to the welcoming, comfortable and well‐resourced environment for staff and pupils.

Qualifications

  • Excellent degree in a directly relevant subject.
  • Experience teaching Biology (Key Stages 3/4, A Level).
  • Ability to engage students of the highest ability and of varied language backgrounds.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of children; enhanced DBS check required.
  • Strong imagination, commitment and ambition to challenge students and convey scientific intricacies.
