TEAM LEADER – CHILDREN'S RESIDENTIAL HOME
Location: Derby
Salary: £15.25–£15.75 per hour
Basic Salary: Approximately £29,737–£30,713 per annum
Overtime: £17.25–£17.75 per hour
Sleep-ins: £50 per sleep-in – approximately £4,200 per annum

Ashford Recruitment are proud to bring to the market a live vacancy for a Team Leader within a children's residential home, located in Derby.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker looking to take the next step in their career, as well as an experienced Team Leader looking to join a supportive and well-managed environment.
The successful candidate will play an important role in leading shifts, supporting the care team and ensuring children and young people receive consistent, safe and high-quality care.

THE ROLE
As Team Leader, you will work alongside the management team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the home.
You will provide leadership and guidance to the residential care team, support colleagues during shifts and help ensure that the home operates in line with safeguarding requirements, Ofsted standards, policies and procedures.
This role would particularly suit a Senior Residential Support Worker who is ready to progress into a Team Leader position and take on additional responsibility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and coordinate shifts within the children's home.
- Provide support, guidance and leadership to Residential Support Workers.
- Act as a positive role model for colleagues and the children and young people.
- Support the management team with the day-to-day running of the home.
- Ensure children receive consistent, safe and nurturing care.
- Promote positive relationships and appropriate behaviour.
- Support with behaviour management and de-escalation.
- Contribute to care planning and reviews.
- Complete and maintain accurate records and daily reports.
- Support the implementation and review of risk assessments.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, managers and external professionals.
- Support new and existing staff through mentoring and guidance.
- Ensure the home remains compliant with relevant policies, procedures and Ofsted requirements.
- Take responsibility for the home and team during allocated shifts.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
Candidates must have direct experience working within an Ofsted-regulated children's residential home.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience of:
- Leading shifts.
- Supporting and supervising colleagues.
- Behaviour management.
- Maintaining accurate and compliant records.
- Working within Ofsted-regulated residential care.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
Candidates must hold the relevant Level 3 qualification or an equivalent recognised qualification.
DESIRABLE
- Willingness to work towards a Level 5 qualification.
- Previous Team Leader or Shift Leader experience.
- Experience supporting young people with EBD and/or SEMH needs.
- Experience mentoring and developing residential care staff.
- Experience working alongside social workers and other external professionals.

SHIFT PATTERN
The role involves working a residential shift pattern, including sleep-ins.
Candidates must be able to commit to the required shift pattern and be realistically commutable to Derby.
Sleep-ins are paid at £50 per sleep-in, with the potential to earn approximately £4,200 per year in addition to the basic salary, depending on the number of sleep-ins worked.
