The Opportunity
Ashford Recruitment are proud to bring to the market an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Manager to lead a brand-new 3-bed children's residential home in Nuneaton.
The home will provide care and support for young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and will operate using a trauma-informed, PACE-led approach.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Manager to be involved from the very beginning, taking ownership of the home and helping to establish the culture, standards and team from the outset.
The successful candidate will be joining a growing independent provider, supported by an experienced Responsible Individual and established senior leadership team.
An experienced Registered Manager is preferred; however, an exceptional Deputy Manager with the experience, knowledge and ambition to step up into a Registered Manager position will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for establishing and managing the new home, ensuring it provides a safe, nurturing and high-quality environment for the young people in your care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Taking overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and development of the home.
- Leading the home through its opening and registration process.
- Ensuring the home operates in accordance with Ofsted requirements, Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
- Developing and embedding a positive culture within the home from day one.
- Recruiting, inducting and developing a strong residential childcare team.
- Providing effective supervision, support and performance management.
- Ensuring staff receive appropriate training and professional development.
- Establishing effective systems for care planning, safeguarding, risk management and record keeping.
- Ensuring all safeguarding concerns, incidents and allegations are managed appropriately.
- Working closely with social workers, local authorities, education providers, healthcare professionals and other agencies.
- Building strong professional relationships with placing authorities and external stakeholders.
- Ensuring the individual needs, wishes and feelings of each young person are understood and reflected in their care.
- Promoting positive outcomes for young people across their emotional, behavioural, educational and social development.
- Embedding a trauma-informed and PACE-led approach throughout the home.
- Developing effective care plans and risk assessments and ensuring these remain current.
- Monitoring the quality of care provided and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Preparing for and supporting Ofsted inspections and monitoring visits.
- Ensuring the home remains compliant with all relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Managing staffing levels, rotas and resources effectively.
- Managing incidents, complaints and safeguarding matters appropriately.
- Working closely with the Responsible Individual and wider senior leadership team.
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety and safeguarding throughout the home.
- Taking responsibility for the home's performance and continued development.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a confident and committed children's residential professional who has the leadership skills and knowledge required to establish a new home and create a positive environment for young people and staff.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager within children's residential care.
- Strong experience working with young people with EBD needs.
- A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience.
- Experience managing, supervising and developing residential childcare teams.
- Experience with care planning, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
- Experience preparing for Ofsted inspection and maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches to care.
- Knowledge or experience of PACE-led practice.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- The confidence to lead a team and make effective decisions.
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
- A full UK driving licence.
Deputy Managers Ready to Step Up
An experienced Deputy Manager who is ready to progress into their first Registered Manager position will also be considered.
To be considered, you will need to demonstrate strong experience within children's residential care, a good understanding of safeguarding and Ofsted requirements, and the leadership ability and confidence to take responsibility for a new home.
This could be an excellent opportunity for a Deputy who is looking for the right organisation and support to take the next step in their career.
