About The Role
East Kent Colleges Group are working in collaboration with BRIT Kids and have an exciting opportunity for a Graphic Design (specialising in Adobe and Mac) Assistant based at our Canterbury College.
Please note that this role is work that will be offered on a supply ADHOC basis. This means that work will be offered as and when we require support on Saturdays for up to 4 hours.
BRIT Kids are fee paying performing, creative and media arts classes that run on Saturdays. We\’re part of The BRIT School, a unique free school for the Performing and Creative arts.
Key Responsibilities
- Aid in the smooth and safe running of BRIT Kids every Saturday.
- Assist teachers in lessons when requested by the manager.
- Provide one-to-one support for students with Additional Educational Needs (AEN) within their respective classes.
- Ensure guidance for BRIT Kids students to and from lessons, managing the pick-up and drop-off of late or early students.
- Remain vigilant, ensuring the safety of all entrances and exits.
- Be aware of all building areas to prevent any lost children or unauthorized individuals on site.
- Uphold the pick-up and drop-off procedure for 8-10 year olds.
- Greet and welcome parents and students at the gates.
- Maintain an approachable, friendly, and helpful demeanor at all times.
- Provide comprehensive tours for new students and parents.
- Undertake any other tasks or duties upon the reasonable request of the manager and/or director.
- Commit to the ethos of BRIT Kids, ensuring adherence to safeguarding and all other relevant policies provided.
- Advocate for and promote the BRIT Kids code of practice concerning discipline, commitment, and professional conduct.
- Attend occasional staff meetings and INSET (In-Service Training) days.
About You
- Graphics & Illustration Support (Ad Hoc, Saturdays) — East Kent Colleges Group, in collaboration with BRIT Kids, is offering an exciting opportunity for an Assistant to support our Saturday sessions at Canterbury College.
- This role is offered on a supply, ad hoc basis, with work available as and when support is needed on Saturdays for up to 4 hours.
- BRIT Kids provides fee-paying performing, creative, and media arts classes every Saturday. As part of The BRIT School—a unique, free school specializing in Performing and Creative Arts—BRIT Kids offers an inspiring environment for young creatives.
- As an Assistant, you will work independently to follow instructions accurately and contribute to the smooth running of our graphics and illustration classes. You’ll need a solid understanding of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) and be able to support students with their digital design projects, providing technical assistance with both software and hardware.
- In addition, you will demonstrate excellent customer service skills, helping to create a positive and professional learning atmosphere. You will also play an active role in supporting the school’s Safeguarding practices, procedures, culture, and ethos, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students.
