About The Role

With a teaching specialism in Engineering, Motor Vehicle or Computing are you ready to be a Head of Department at an outstanding Further Education college?

EKC Canterbury College are seeking a Head of Engineering, Motor Vehicle and Computing who will be responsible for managing the department and promoting high standards in a positive and supportive culture. This post welcomes applicants with electrical, plumbing or engineering specialisms, as well as a background in education and leadership.

As Head of Department, your responsibilities will include quality assurance and quality improvement to ensure consistent high standards of student experience; people management; budget management; data analysis and reporting, and planning and implementing strategy. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring that curriculum delivery is of the highest quality whilst ensuring the required support is in place to help all learners thrive and achieve.

About You

We are looking for an innovative, proactive individual to join our high performing Curriculum Management Team. You will have a positive track record, a genuine passion for driving up standards and a ‘can-do’ attitude.

Up to date industry knowledge and a good understanding of current industry practices are key requirements for this role. We are looking for commitment to excellence, a focus on delivery and clear strategic understanding, as well as an aptitude for a fast-paced, dynamic, Further Education environment.

To be successful in this role, you will hold a degree level qualification, or equivalent, or relevant industry experience, and a recognised teaching qualification (DET/PGCE/CertEd). With demonstrable teaching practice at good or outstanding level, you will also have experience of curriculum planning and development and a proven ability to manage and lead a professional team to deliver results.
