About The Role

Put Your Hospitality Experience on the Menu – Inspire the Next Generation. Bring your catering and hospitality expertise to the classroom and help shape the next generation of industry professionals. As a Lecturer of Catering and Hospitality at EKC Broadstairs College, you’ll share your knowledge of commercial kitchens, food preparation, service and hospitality operations, delivering practical and engaging teaching, training and assessment across a range of learning environments.

You’ll support students to develop the technical, professional and employability skills they need to succeed in the industry, from kitchen and front-of-house practice to food safety, customer service and working as part of a professional brigade. You’ll also take the lead on designated programmes and courses, helping to plan, deliver and evaluate an engaging curriculum that reflects current industry standards, workplace expectations and the evolving hospitality sector.

Hours per week: 6

Salary per year: £6,060 up to £6,639

Working pattern: Tuesday from 11.00am to 5.00pm

About You

You’ll be a highly organised and creative educator, with the ability to plan and deliver engaging, innovative lessons that inspire learners. You’ll have strong interpersonal skills, a positive and empathetic approach, and the confidence to manage a classroom effectively. Tracking student progress and using this to plan targeted support and interventions will be a key part of your role.

Ideally, you’ll have experience teaching or delivering training in the workplace, although this isn’t essential as full training will be provided. You’ll be able to teach across Level 1 to Level 3 programmes and motivate learners to achieve and succeed in their studies.

Please note that there are two salary scale points for our Lecturer positions. All candidates will start at the introductory salary scale point unless certain criteria are met. Lecturers will normally move up to the highest salary scale once one full academic year of teaching for our group is complete. (Lecturers must be in post by 1st September in any given year to qualify and this is subject to approval). Therefore, internal applicants in the same role may qualify for the higher salary scale, although should seek clarification.
