We are looking for an enthusiastic and versatile Environmental Operations and Contracts Officer to join our dedicated Environmental Contracts team at Ashford Borough Council.
You will play a vital part in providing an excellent customer-focused service across waste and recycling, street cleansing, cemeteries, allotments, garages, and environmental contracts.
You will be responsible for handling service requests, coordinating with contractors, maintaining digital records, and administering financial processes, along with:
Assisting in the delivery of projects and community initiatives.
Supporting public health funerals.
Managing garage and allotment tenancies.
Administering cemetery burials, and promoting community-led recycling and litter-picking campaigns.
Site visits and cross-service collaboration mean no two days are ever the same.
You will be a proactive team player who can work both independently and as part of a team. It is essential that you have confidence in dealing with public enquiries and sensitive issues, Solid IT skills, especially with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams, along with having a methodical, accurate and efficient work ethic.
Experience in local government, waste and recycling, contract administration or financial processes would be advantageous but not essential.
In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach as you will be required from time to time for
occasional out-of-hours work.
