This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands‑on experience supporting the management of our corporate buildings while working towards a nationally recognised Facilities Services Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship qualification.

In this role, you will work alongside experienced facilities and compliance professionals, helping to ensure that our buildings, services and assets are safe, compliant and well managed. You will develop valuable skills in facilities management, health and safety, contractor coordination, compliance monitoring and customer service, providing a strong foundation for a future career within property and facilities management.

About the Role

Reporting to the Compliance and Facilities Officer, you will provide administrative and operational support across a wide range of compliance and facilities activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the management of compliance records relating to fire safety, asbestos, water hygiene, gas, electrical safety and other statutory requirements.
  • Supporting the monitoring of inspections,and servicing programmes.
  • Updating databases, spreadsheets and document management systems.
  • Assisting with audits, inspections and compliance reporting.
  • Supporting health and safety compliance across Council-owned and tenanted properties.
  • Supporting the Facilities Team with day-to-day activities including ID badge production, access fobs, meeting room bookings and ordering supplies.
  • Assisting with cleaning inspections and facilities audits.
  • Responding to facilities requests and helpdesk enquiries.
  • Carrying out site inspections and monitoring activities under supervision.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will receive structured training and development, gaining practical experience while building the knowledge and skills required for a successful career in the facilities management sector.

About the Apprenticeship - You will be enrolled on the Facilities Services Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship, a nationally recognised qualification designed to provide the knowledge and practical skills needed for a career in facilities management.

The training is delivered through a combination of online learning, workshops and workplace experience.

Property maintenance and inspections

Customer service and communication

Environmental and sustainability considerations

Successful completion will provide an excellent platform for further progression within facilities, property or compliance-related roles.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable and eager to learn and it is essential that you have good organisational skills and attention to detail, along with having:

  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Experience working in a customer‑facing environment.
