It is an exciting time to join Ashford and St Peters NHS Trust. We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate midwife to join our Education Team as a Clinical Practice Educator. In this role, you will help shape the future of our maternity service by supporting, educating, and developing both registered and unregistered staff across our maternity service.

ASPH offers a homebirth service, an alongside birthing centre, a level 3 Neonatal Unit, and diverse experiences ranging from supporting uncomplicated pregnancies to developing care plans for high-risk maternal and fetal medicine. We use an MDT approach and work closely with our NICU team to ensure the best outcomes for babies requiring specialist care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Implement learning from incidents and new initiatives on the shop floor.
  2. Support the fetal wellbeing lead in delivering local training.
  3. Provide day-to-day teaching in the clinical environment, including supportive drug rounds, triage shifts, and ward management supported shifts.
  4. Participate in safety huddles to ensure all learning opportunities are accessible to learners.
  5. Utilize the SIMs lab and support simulated learning in the clinical environment.
  6. Provide floor support for students and registrants to develop their confidence in clinical areas.
  7. Welcome new starters to the maternity unit, supporting their clinical induction and orientation.
  8. Support the development of internationally recruited midwives and nurses.
  9. Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and policies.
