A permanent position requiring 5+ years of experience in printing and mechanical machine setting.
Ashfield Extrusion Ltd is a specialist in the manufacture of aluminium impact extrusions and subsequent machining, finishing, and printing operations. The company makes a wide range of products for various markets, including military and packaging industries, and exports over half of what it produces.
Owing to continued expansion, we are looking to recruit a Print Setter to set and oversee the running of coating, printing, and lacquering machines. This is a good opportunity for a permanent secure position in a successful business. The print department is a key asset to the business as most competitors do not print their own parts, making us very attractive in the market.
The job:
- 5+ years experience of mechanical machine and print setting is a must
- Full-time setters are what we are looking for - not setter/operators
You will be responsible for:
- Machine setting and adjustment involving frequent changeovers
- Health and Safety
- Quality of product and adherence to procedures
- Production performance and efficiencies
- Housekeeping and tool care
The person:
- Experienced print machine setter with print and mechanical setting skills
- Positive “get it done” attitude
- Attention to detail and commitment to following procedures
- Ability to assist in problem solving
- Lead operators by example
- An eye test for colour blindness is part of the interview process
We expect to have to train people as the work we do is quite unusual, but with a good printing and mechanical skill level to start with, this is not such a long process.
Shift times are: 7:30 to 4:30 Monday to Thursday, 7:30 to 2:00 on Friday when on regular days. We work a 9-day fortnight, so every second Friday is a non-work day, making a 37-hour week on average. There is a possibility to move onto 2 shifts when trained: 6:00 to 14:00; 14:00 to 22:00 at a 20% shift premium. Regular contracted overtime one or two evenings per week to 8:00 PM to cover evening shift - paid at overtime rate.
Holidays: 24 per year plus statutory.
Benefits (subject to acceptance/conditions from insurance company):
- Death in service benefit: 2 x annual basic salary
- Sickness – 75% of basic salary for 12 months
- Pension - 3% employer contribution; 5% employee
